Worked example
Mixed inventory at one location.
A site contains 20 ABC dry-chemical units and two CO₂ units, each with an editable inspection rate and per-device allowance for tags, seals, and consumables. The quote then adds the trip, travel zone, a selected recharge line, and additional labor.
The result reports the quote total, effective cost per extinguisher, and a full breakdown. If a discount and tax are entered, the discount reduces the subtotal before tax is calculated.

A quoting aid, never a compliance engine.
The calculator performs arithmetic on the work and rates entered by the operator. Labels such as recharge, six-year maintenance, and hydrostatic test are editable quoted services—not recommendations or interval determinations.
Before quoting or performing work, confirm the project scope, device listing and manufacturer instructions, technician qualifications, the requirements and edition adopted by the authority having jurisdiction, and tax treatment. NFPA 10 information is provided as a reference point only; local adoption may differ.

What does this fire-extinguisher quote calculator include?
It totals operator-entered trip and travel charges, locations, extinguisher quantities and unit rates, tags and consumables, extra service lines, labor, rush fees, discounts, and optional tax. It does not decide which services are required.
Can I quote several extinguisher types?
Yes. Add an inventory line for each type or pricing class and enter its quantity, inspection rate, and per-unit material allowance. The labels are free text so they can match the scope and terminology used by your business.
How are discounts and tax calculated?
The percentage discount is applied to the full pre-discount subtotal first. When the tax option is enabled, tax is then calculated on the discounted subtotal. Confirm whether each service and material is taxable in the relevant jurisdiction.
Does this calculator determine inspection or maintenance intervals?
No. It never determines inspection, maintenance, testing, recharge, or replacement intervals; evaluates device condition; condemns equipment; or represents that a scope complies with a code, standard, or authority requirement.
Which code or standard edition should I reference?
Use the edition adopted by the authority having jurisdiction for the project, along with applicable manufacturer instructions and local requirements. Do not assume that the newest published edition is the locally adopted edition.
